6. The Quacks of Quedlinburg
In The Quacks of Quedlinburg, players are charlatans — or quack doctors — each making their own secret brew by adding ingredients one at a time. Take care with what you add, though, for a pinch too much of this or that will spoil the whole mixture!
Each player has their own bag of ingredient chips. During each round, they simultaneously draw chips from their bags and add them to their pots. The higher the face value of the drawn chip, the further it is placed in the pot’s swirling pattern, increasing how much the potion will be worth. Push your luck as far as you can, but if you add too many cherry bombs, your pot will explode!
At the end of each round, players gain victory points and coins to spend on new ingredients, depending on how well they managed to fill up their pots. But players whose pots have exploded must choose points or coins — not both! The player with the most victory points at the end of nine rounds wins the game.
7. Aggravation (a form of) Dice or Cards
This board can be played either with Dice or Cards, in our home we prefer the card version. From what i’ve seen, there are many versions to chose from, different cards do different things in different homes. In our home: Ace = Start or 1 space, Joker = Start of 15 (if all marbles are out), King = Start or 13 (if all marbles are out). #2-10 = that # of spaces. Queen = 12 spaces, Jack = 11 or Switch (your marble has to be involved in the switch) #7 can be split between your marbles and it kills anyone it jumps over. #4 are backwards only.
8. Codenames
Codenames is a game played by 4 or more players in which players are split into two teams, red and blue, and guess words based on clues from their teammates. One player from each team becomes the spymaster, while the others play as field operatives. The end goal is to place all of the team’s agent tiles.
9. Catch Phrase
Play The Grab It, Guess It, Pass It Game! The Catch Phrase game is an electronic game with 5,000 words and phrases that’s fun and challenging for family and friends to play. Try to get teammates to guess the word or phrase that appears on the screen by describing it any way possible — but do it fast! There are plenty of categories to choose from including Fun and Games, Entertainment, Everyday Life, Variety, and The World. Don’t get caught holding the unit when the buzzer goes off because the other team will score a point. The first team to reach 7 points wins.
10. Small World
In Small World, players compete for conquest and control of a world that is simply too small to accommodate them all. Designed by Philippe Keyaerts as a fantasy follow-up to his award-winning Vinci, Small World is inhabited by a zany cast of characters such as dwarves, wizards, amazons, giants, orcs and even humans; who use their troops to occupy territory and conquer adjacent lands in order to push the other races off the face of the earth. Picking the right combination from the 14 different fantasy races and 20 unique special powers, players rush to expand their empires – often at the expense of weaker neighbors. Yet they must also know when to push their own over-extended civilization into decline and ride a new one to victory!
Conclusion
These are just a few of the many fantastic board games available. Each offers unique experiences and hours of entertainment. Happy gaming!
